I’m Not a Tech Person. That’s the Whole Point.
If you caught the homepage, you already know the outline: 25 years in corporate finance, a seven-figure role I walked away from at the end of 2023, and a move to Bali that looks, from the outside, like some kind of vacation. It wasn't. I want to tell you the actual story, because I think you'll see yourself in more of it than you'd expect.
I spent 25 years in corporate finance. Deloitte, then years inside an international private bank working with ultra-high-net-worth families, watching how money actually moves when it has no ceiling. I was good at it. I built a career most people would call the whole goal. Spreadsheets, close periods, the kind of work where being right matters more than being creative.
Here's the thing: none of that trained me for AI. I didn't come into this with a technical background, a coding class, or some early-adopter head start. I came into it the same way you might: curious, a little intimidated, not totally sure it was "for me."
I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 35. I beat it, and then I did something that probably tells you a lot about who I was back then: I went back to work. Stayed for seven more years. I wasn't ready to hear what that diagnosis was trying to tell me yet.
Burnout is what finally got through. In 2023, I got a burnout diagnosis, and that was the moment I couldn't argue my way past anymore. I left the seven-figure role. Honestly, that decision scared me more than the diagnosis did.
Bali wasn't a reward. It was where I went to rebuild, without a title, without a team under me, without the identity I'd spent 25 years constructing. And it's where I started teaching myself AI, out of curiosity at first, then out of something closer to necessity, because I realized the tools I was learning could actually rebuild an income and a business from scratch. No corporate infrastructure. No department to hand things off to. Just me and Claude, figuring it out.
If I can build something real with zero tech background, starting from a villa with a laptop and a lot of trial and error, I promise you can too.
She's Learning AI exists because the AI education space is loud, jargon-heavy, and mostly built for people who already speak the language. I couldn't find anyone teaching this to a woman like me: GenX or Millennial, not technical, not looking for a computer science degree, just looking for a way to use this thing without feeling stupid for not already knowing it.
So I built the channel I wish I'd had. I'm not the expert at the front of the room. I'm the one a few steps ahead, showing you exactly what I'm figuring out as I figure it out.
Everything on this channel, including this website, is being built in public. That's what the SLA Files series is: the real, unedited record of me building She's Learning AI from nothing. Wins and flops, both. If a launch email flops, you'll hear about it. If a tool saves me three hours, you'll hear about that too.
I'm not documenting this because it's a nice content angle. I'm documenting it because the honest version is more useful to you than a highlight reel would ever be.
If you've been watching AI from the sidelines, wondering if you're too old, too non-technical, or too far behind to start: you're not. You're exactly who this was built for.
Keep learning. Keep building. Keep chasing your freedom.
